At the most recent meeting of the Education & Workforce Development subcommittee on Thursday, February 18th, subcommittee members discussed racial disparities in schools, including graduation rates.
They brainstormed ways to engage more parents and how to support more teachers and principals. Considering how many students are learning from home – during COVID-19 – they also talked about ways to support virtual learning for West Palm Beach students.
The subcommittee wants to create and distribute a survey to parents and teachers. It also wants to invite Principals, teachers, and parents from lower-performing schools to share how racial disparities are affecting them.
