At the Last Subcommittee Meeting…

On Wednesday, May 12th, the Finance, Banking & Business subcommittee welcomed guest speakers Allison Boettcher, Owner of Blue Mountain Coffee House and Mrs. Studstill, Owner of Cityside Suites: Smart Office & Business Cafe.

Boettcher said she loved having a business in the city, but noticed a lack of an overall resource that helped guide new business owners on how to open a business in the city. She said she would feel more supported if there were COVID-19 relief and if (new) business owners had a place they could go to in order to find resources.

Mrs. Studstill also faced barriers when opening her business such as issues with banks helping her business. She had to go to multiple banks for assistance. A recent challenge was maintaining her business during the pandemic.

Subcommittee members then reviewed the idea of an overall resource for new business owners in the city. They discussed the possibilities of having an office in City Hall focused on supporting and providing information to business owners.
