At the Last Task Force Meeting
On Friday, July 23rd, 10:00 a.m., the Task Force convened and reviewed Task Force expectations when reviewing each subcommittee’s draft policy ideas, and next steps. The Task Force also hosted guest speaker Darryl Finkton Jr., owner of the End Poverty. Make Trillions. investment fund.
Subcommittee co-chairs first shared their subcommittee progress and updates. Subcommittee co-chairs each reported their draft policy ideas that were reviewed and agreed upon thus far by subcommittee members. It is expected that the Task Force will begin reviewing the draft policy ideas submitted by each subcommittee during their August meeting. The Task Force will ideally finalize their recommendations by September 2021.
Darryl Finkton Jr. then introduced himself and presented about his End Poverty. Make Trillions. investment fund. Mr. Finkton Jr. is looking to reduce poverty with basic universal income. He is currently traveling across the country and speaking with people in low-income communities and learning about how poverty is impacting them.
He then answered questions. Task Force members asked about fund operations, challenges he has faced, and funding logistics. The video about West Palm Beach will be posted on the End Poverty. Make Trillions. YouTube channel.
For its next steps, the Task Force co-chairs will await further details on whether the next meeting on August 26th will be hosted in person, and will begin to review the subcommittees’ draft policy ideas.
